Meet Our Scientists, Engineers, Postdocs and Professionals at Grace Hopper!

Berkeley Lab has the privilege of sending 10 employees from very diverse professional backgrounds to Grace Hopper 2011 (GHC11) and we are coming to meet you!  Professional backgrounds include scientists, engineers, postdoctoral fellows, a writer, and a recruiter.  We are looking forward to the conference to meet, network, mentor, learn from, and recruit many outstanding women attending GHC11.

If you are attending GHC11, please stop by the Berkeley Lab booth; say hello, ask questions, and learn why we believe Berkeley Lab is one of the greatest places to work!

Taghrid Samak (Postdoc) , Sowmya Balasubramanian (Engineer)

See below for profiles of just a few scientists and engineers you can meet at GHC11!
Dr. Deb Agarwal specializes in research and development of advanced cyberinfrastructure to support collaboration on and sharing of scientific data, data analysis infrastructure for eco-science, scientific tools to enable sharing of scientific experiments, and cybersecurity infrastructure to secure scientific environments. She is leading teams developing computational infrastructure for astrophysics, subsurface modeling, and carbon capture. She comes to the Grace Hopper Conference to recruit and interact with the amazing women who attend the conference.Dr. Alice Koniges is a Physicist and Computer Scientist at the National Energy Research Supercomputing Center (NERSC) at LBNL. She is currently head of the Petascale Inititative in Computational Science and Engineering, which focuses on improving high performance computing (HPC) applications by pairing postdoctoral researchers with application and performance-oriented projects. She comes to the Grace Hopper Conference to encourage students to engage in HPC research careers and to interact with other professional women.
Deb Heller-Evans specializes in managing resources for computing infrastructure and high-bandwidth networks that link scientists at national laboratories as well as many universities and research institutions. She is a member of the CFEngine Technical Board and comes to the Grace Hopper Conference with over 30 years experience in industry and science hoping to excite others with her enthusiasm for technology. Elizabeth Bautista is a member of the team that manages the Parallel Distributed Systems Facility, a networked computing environment used to meet the detector simulation and data analysis requirements of large scale Physics and Nuclear Science applications. She comes to the Grace Hopper Conference to broaden her knowledge of the industries where women are pioneering and making a difference, hoping to bring this information back to the students she works with who are just starting their careers.
