ESnet: Visualizing the Universe at 100 Gbps

With $62 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, ESnet built a 100 Gbps long-haul prototype network and a wide-area testbed. So far more than 25 groups have taken advantage of ESnet’s wide-area testbed, which is open to researchers from government agencies and private industry, to test new, potentially disruptive network technologies without interfering with other network traffic.

Breaking away from our Computational Research Division, ESnet is growing and has recently become its own Berkeley Lab division appropriately named, Scientific Networking within the Lab's Computing Sciences area led by Associate Lab Director, Kathy Yelick.  We hope to be naming a Scientific Networking Division Director soon, who will lead ESnet though this exciting growth period!

Stay connected with me through LinkedIn - I will be announcing career opportunities as they come up.  Right now ESnet is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator #74522 and that's just a start!

Stay tuned!
