CNN Names Associate Lab Director, Kathy Yelick, Leading Woman

Meet Kathy Yelick, (left) who has built a career on predicting the needs and abilities of computer systems that haven't been invented. Highly respected as a UC Berkeley computer science professor, she also is the director for the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center -- a high-performance Department of Energy computing facility that helps scientists run tests. One of the massive computers in the facility is named after Grace Murray Hopper, right, who pioneered programming languages (her ideas led to COBOL) and coined the term "debugging" in reference to fixing a computer.
